Hi all,

I'm looking for a good pair of studio headphones to use with my digital piano. I am also starting to dabble with various forms of electronica and hearing some fairly low frequencies. Can anyone recommend phones that won't fall apart with a low Hammond tone. I undertand AKG, Sennheiser make nice headphones but haven't tried them. Comfort and cost are also factors.

Thanks,
Matt

if you search/google by 'AKG' or 'Sennheiser' or 'Sony' headphone, you may find the sites selling those plus some user reviews on some models, which would help you to make a decision.

Yamaha RH5MA are fantastic if you can get hold of them. Nice response all over the frequencies.

I purchased a pair of Sony (MDR-7506) headphones. I went to Guitar Center thay had a fairly large selection. I narrowed it down to the Sennheiser's and the Sony's. I used one of each brand long enough for my ears and head to notice (~45min). It looked to me that the Sennheiser's "should" have been more comfortable - but I felt that (for me) the Sony's were more so. Seems like they may squeeze my head less.

Anyway - try a bunch and good luck!

I have the Sony MDR-7506's too. Great studio phones and very comfortable. Very popular in studios around the world.
