Hello everyone,
I'm a new member here and I am posting this in hopes that someone (or better yet someones) could help me pick out a piano. I am a beginner with no piano experience, but I do play electric guitar, so I do have music experience. I'd like a keyboard for about $250-300 used if possible. From guitar experience, I've learned its better to buy a nice used piece of equipment rather than an okay new one. If my price range seems a bit low I'm open to higher suggestions, but I don't know how much higher I can go.

if you want a digital piano, the cheapest one is at least $400 and above. check out Casio PX110 or above models if you can stretch your budget little bit more.

I searched that and it seems for a new one it would be about 400-500...do you have any idea what it would cost for a used one?

Also, does anyone have any other suggestions? Also, I'd like some advice for some books or dvds that could help...i'm probably going to take lessons but a book or dvd couldn't hurt.

Welcome to the forum, themilkman! If you go to the AB forum and search the archives for "self-teaching" or "self teaching" as the topic of the thread, you'll find lots of good tips.

Also, many people swear by the Chang book. Considering it's available free online, it's not a bad place to start:

Thanks for that link. It's been so long since I've had formal lessons and certain aspects of my playing really suck compared to others (for instance, I've got perfect relative pitch and can easily read notes, but my timing and rhythm is the suckiest suck that ever did suck. Sucky.)
