Can anyone please advise me on these models: Technics SX-KN7000, Roland RD700 and Kawai MP9500.

The Roland RD700 is a professional stage piano which sounds and feels great. Technics and Kawai generally make products designed for home use. If you're looking for a piece of furniture, then look at the Technics or Kawai. If you're looking for a serious instrument, consider the RD700.

I'm going to have to disagree with you Steve,not about the Roland RD700, I agree there, if you are looking for cabinet, then I would still recommend Roland. The KR577 models have the nicest cabinets of any digitals I've ever seen.

As far as Mozart4ever's question goes however, It's important to know what the instrument is being used for. All three brands are reliable and make good products.

Is it for practice, if so for who?
What is your musical backround? Primarily piano, or do you play other instruments as well? Will it mostly be used for classical? Jazz? These answers could greatly help in letting you know which one best suits your needs.

I'm confused. Where did you disagree with me?

Thank you for your wonderful comments. First of all I play both the keyboards and piano. I currently own an acoustic Yamaha which is unfortunately on its last leg at the moment. I would like something to replace it and at the sametime allow me to practice at night and that is where Roland RD700 and Kawai MP9500 come in but while I was browsing at the local store, I came across the Technics which I thought was the most magnificent keyboards that I have seen. I meant about the furniture aspect. If I was looking at cabinets, I wouldn't look at the Technics, Roland is where I would start.

I haven't tried the KN7000, but I have played the KN6500. I was very impressed with the sounds and rhythms. Have you compared the 7000 with the 6500? If so, how do they rate? If the 7000 is much improved, it must be a great keyboard!

I haven't play the 7000 but I use to sell the kn-6500. Technics keyboards are great, except for the piano sound on treble range and the sound of the acoustic guitar. But if you are looking for a 88 keys DP. I guess the kn 7000 it is not 88 keys. As I mentioned already Technics keyboards are nice, but they are also big toys with lots of features you may not need and those features makes them expensive. I'll rather have a Roland if you main concern is playing it as a piano.

It's hard to beat the Technics action. I bought a "Digital Ensemble" (PR-51 I think) three years ago, but I focus almost entirely on classical stuff. I don't use many of the supposed bells and whistles that it contains however. And the cabinet could certainly be a little nicer. But the action remains great, and the sound is decent - and sounds extremely good when input to the computer for creating CD's, mp3's etc.
