Tried both P85 and PX120, liked P85 better.
I am buying P85 soon.

(Waiting for discounts. Currently, I can't seem to find any discounts on P85 and its $599 everywhere )

I have a friend, who's in China right now, told me that she recently bought the P85. She said she loved it except that the bottom of P85 is not flat and it doesn't sit stably unless on the factory stand (which she didn't buy).

I didn't look at the bottom when I tried P85 last time.
I was planning to just buy a double x stand to save money.

Can anyone with P85 tell me their experience? Does it sit stable on a regular double-X-stand ?
I know it is unlikely that the ones bought in China are different, but i still want to make sure.

I don't want to spend money on a double-x stand then find that the DP shakes when i play.

Whether the P85 will wobble on the x-stand depends on which x-stand you purchase. I tried out a few x-stands, and the P85 wobbled on most of them at seated height. The only one that it didn't wobble on is the one i purchased. Its actually manufactured by radioshack.

I suggest you try to purchase the x-stand at a store that sells the P85, this way you can try them before. I can tell you that the x-stand manufactured by Yamaha definitely did not fit the p85. not only does the P85 have two gaps in the base, but the gaps are sloped, so the keyboard will be at an incline as well as wobbling. Really dumb design, unfortunately. Otherwise, I do love my P85.

Can you indicate the model number of the X stand you purchased at Radio Shack that seems to work with the P85? I am in the same boat looking for a stand that fits this DP.

Thanks

I have a P-85 too with an X stand, and what you say is true, it does shake a bit.
So, i would recommend the factory stand.. or maybe you can get an x stand that doesnt shake, i dont know..
