What is the best digital piano to buy for appx 3k? Needs to have accompany capabilities and a great weighted touch. Portable would be best.

The Fantom X is great (I have one). But it doesn't have the kind of "accompanying capabilities" that I suspect you're looking for. The Fantom is a "pro" keyboard. Accompaniment capability is more of a "home/consumer" feature. I'd start with keyboards in that category. Others around here would be better at pointing you in the right direction than I...

What about the Yamaha CVP 303? That looks nice.

Is there a Yamaha portable with the same capabilities as the CVP 303?

What about those good deals on E-bay. Has anyone bought one? Does the warranty default if you dont' buy from a dealer?

I'm a fan of the Yamaha CVP line but Roland and Kawai also make excellent home units (i.e. not portable).

I'm not aware of any manufacturers making a portable/stage piane (i.e. weighted action) with accompaniment features. There are dozens of consumer models and a few really good (pro) models with synth actions:

Yamaha Tyros
Roland G-70
GEM WK2000

Your other option is to go with a good stage piano and a laptop running accompaniment software:

There are two:

Yamaha PF1000, and Roland KF7.

At 94lbs, I wouldn'd exactly call the PF1000 a portable or stage piano. ;-)

The Kf-7 is only 66lbs without the stand so you might get away with that one.

The PF1000, like the PF500 (same, but with different set of "extras"), weighs 67 lbs. w/o stand.
