I just found a Kurzweil K2600XS keyboard with the orchestral and contemporary roms, live sampling and memory upgrades for $380.

Any opinions about this keyboard? It really seems to do a lot.

It is in perfect operating condition and looks almost new. It comes with a custom hard case and Ultimate stand also, but no pedal, so any pedal suggestions for this keyboard would be appreciated.

GET IT! For $380 it is a steal! Sure it doesn't have piano samples as good as most high-end digital pianos (they're really good, but this is a synth), but it makes it up in the amazing sound banks it has. Just the ROMS it has in it are worth $380 alone. I have a K2600X that I bought used on ebay and I paid $2,000 for it and it doesn't have these ROM's or the sampling option installed. I still think I got a good deal, because they are still going for around that same price. When it first came out, this keyboard sold for $3500 on www.musiciansfriend.com. It has since been discontinued because the PC3 came out, but it is still an amazing board. It can do anything you want it to and it is extremely user-configurable. This is one of the most professional and good-sounding workstations you can buy. The orchestral suite is the best I have ever heard.

My K2600X was manufactured in 1999 (It's purple, meaning it's one of the first batches - the newer ones are black and gray) and it has not had a single problem (knock on wood). It has a good action (certainly not the best) but definitely livable. Even if you get it and don't like it, you can sell it for over three times what you paid for it. If you don't buy it, let me know where it is because I'll snatch it up! LOL.

The hard case and Ultimate stand are also a valuable addition. I would be guessing the case alone is worth several hundred. (Make sure this keyboard isn't stolen). You can buy a pedal for around $25 for a good one. I had a Yamaha pedal (the non-half sustain one) and it worked perfectly. I have since bought a Kurzweil pedal.

Can I say it again? Get this keyboard, because these deals don't come around that often!

If the instrument is in good shape, current EBay prices used start at about $1500. I own a 2661, which is the 61 key unweighted version - sounds are not as good as my PC3X, but are good.

This is a large and heavy keyboard - best I remember it weighs in at about 75 pounds without case. However, if you are not gigging constantly with it, moving it is not that often.

They are well built, and have been a studio standard controller for years.

Thank you.

I have purchased the keyboard. It was an amazing deal. This is one of the newer black and gray ones.I am so excited. I am really going to like this keyboard but there sure is a lot to learn.

It is a heavy beast but I don't mind the weight since I will be setting up at the house and won't be moving it around... maybe I should sell the hard case. The Ultimate stand is really nice.
Tomorrow I will see about ordering a pedal.
thanks again.

Congrats! You will have alot to learn - this is a very DEEP keyboard. But also lots of fun! I ordered the Kurzweil KFP-1 sustain pedal from Pro Audio Solutions for $39.87 including s&h. It works great!

Wow. Can I ask how you got such a crazy deal?

Craigslist perhaps?

A K2600xs for $380 !!! Did you forget a "0" ? That's obscenely low. Unless this is from a very close friend or relative, I'd be very suspicious.

Anyone out there missing a K2600xs ?
