I was over at Costco today when I noticed the Behringer CDP1000 digital piano selling with a bench for $500. I was wondering if anyone has tried them and what do you think of the sound quality? It sounds ok to me when I was there. The key appears a little bit stiffer than a stage Yamaha next to it. The Behringer looks really nice in a wooden cabinet and has a full range of features and sounds.

Since I have no car to get it home, I have to do delivery service if I want it. This would bring the cost of the piano up to $600. Do you think I should go for this deal or buy the Casio AP24 for $600 shipped?

My budget for an digital piano just shrunk due to bills.

Thanks a lot,
-Gnimble

Renting a u-Haul track will save you at least another $50 if I remember correctly from my last move.

I've decided against the Behringer CDP1000. I went to Costco again to admire it when I had to try out the $700 Yamaha close by. Although the Yamaha portable piano looks really cheap and plasticky, the sound blows the Behringer out of the water. The other Piano I'm considering is the Casio PX800 or AP45. How much better sound quality does the Yamaha have over those two if anyone know?

Thanks,
-Gnimble

But I thought the key felt better than the Yamaha one in Costco. Maybe a combination with something like Ivory will make it a good digital piano? (It has the line in jack.)

The Behringer keys felt a little heavier than the Yamaha one, the reason I prefer it more on my first visit. At that time, only the Behringer was connected. I tested out both the second time. My personal opinion is that after hearing both, the Yamaha sounds much better so if I have to practice extensively, I rather use the Yamaha. Instead, I skipped both and got the Casio AP500, which I absolutely love.

Warmest regards,
Gnimble

I wish I had a keyboard different than my behringer. I play on it at home, and go to my friend's house (she has a grand piano) and the feeling is TOO different. Worse is playing on her grand for 2 days and playing on an upright piano before youth orchestra, coming back home and playing on my behringer, and being half lost because the weight is so different.

If I had a good upright, I'd be happy, but not with this thing. frown
