Hi
I know this question has probably been asked 1000 times so please bare with it one more time. I would like to learn how to play piano. I am in my late 30's and I think I am musically talent less. I still want to give it a shot. I would like to see if anyone has advice on a beginner keyboard that would be good to learn how to play some classic rock, 80's, 90's and some classical on.

I would like to be able to add background music such as drums, bass and guitar later on if I get good at it. I just want to play for my own enjoyment not looking to go on tour or anything like that. Just dont want to spend a bunch of money if I can't pick it up.

I appreciate it if anyone has some suggestions and maybe some self teach books that might be helpful. I would like to keep it under $700 and space is kind of limited. Thanks again for anyone's help.

To stay under $700 there are a number of options, I'm familiar with Casio PX-110, PX-310 and Yamaha P-70, all are on special and include stand, bench and headphones here:
instrumentpro.com

All are good for starting out, easy to sell if you crash and burn. There are other good online stores like sweetwater.com and musiciansfriend.com
Can't help with self teaching books, but go on the "Adult Beginners" forum and do a search, they talk about self teaching methods.

i suggest take a look at a more modern Casio PX-200, it has 128 polyphony, weighted keys plus a bunch of different sounds is a nice bonus. this should cost around 700$ without a stand, with a three pedal stand this is around 800$. can you afford an extra 100$? i could suggest you a nice Kawai but this would be slightly more expensive and for an entry level i think Casio is just fine.
