My understanding is that a CLP-265 has the same technical specifications as the CLP-230 except for improved audio amplifier/speaker.

Here is a link:

CLP-265

Of course there is a difference in style (appearance). I usually refer to models like the CLP-265 as a micro-grand for the reason that it is an electronic piano, not an acoustic piano. Myself I am less interested in appearance.

I currently own a CLP-230 and I am happy with it.

If I were buying now I would look at the CLP-330 or better if my budget allowed. I would be primarily interested in the improved specs and features. For example, the CLP-265 and CLP-230 do not support dynamic sampling. The new CLP-330 does.

I agree that the improved audio amplifier/speakers of the Yamaha micro-grand styled models is a noticeable improvement when you hear it side-by-side with a CLP-230 like mine, which has smaller speakers and less audio power. However, I run the audio output of my piano into a HiFi amplifier/speaker system that far out performs what Yamaha supplies in their micro-grand models. So my entire system sounds much better than the CLP-265 at a lower total cost.

Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.
