Hello All

I'm considering buying a digital piano.

I have read many helpful comments on this forum about Yamaha, Roland and Kawai models, but I haven't seen any comments regarding Korg's digital pianos, specifically the C-520 and C-720.

Does anyone have any experiences with Korg digital pianos that they would like to share?

I've owned 3 digital pianos since the late
1980's: a Korg C-800 console (this might have
been the first of the Korg concert series
and the ancestor of the C-520
and C-720) purchased new in 1989 for
$1700.00 (US), a Casio AP-24 console
purchased new online in 2005 for $700.00,
and a Korg SP-250 lightweight console
purchased new online last month for $900.00.
I've been pleased with all of them.
My neighbor now has the C-800 and it
still plays perfectly after all these
years. It sounds better in some ways
than the latest digitals--less bloated
with software, giving a purer sound

When I was shopping for my latest digital,
I considered several brands, but went
with Korg again, since--from my experience
with the C-800--I was familiar with
the quality, reliability, and
sound of Korgs. The SP-250 does a great job
of reproducing the key action and sound
of an acoustic grand piano. The keyboard
is expecially impressive: the surfaces
of the white and black keys have been
carefully textured to have a feel similar to
the ivory and ebony wood on a quality
acoustic grand. I've never played
a C-520 or 720, but I'd expect that
they would be fine pianos, based on my
experience with the C-800 and SP-250.

I just bought the Korg SP-250 2 weeks ago. I love the sound of the grand and find the keys very similar to the touch of my acoustic upright. Everything about it fit my needs. I wanted a lightweight 88 key digital (graded weighted keys). What I like best is that it's very portable and weighs only 41 pounds--easily carried in a padded bag. The way the stand fits directly into the underside of the keyboard is unique. The keyboard is not sitting on top of the stand as is the case with most portables. The pedal attaches to the bottom crossbeam of the stand and doesn't move around.

The speaker on the Korg 250 seems to be very powerful and output certainly enough for performing anywhere.

I already notice how my touch for different pianos is being improved by playing on the Korg as well as my Everett acoustic.

Looking forward to all your comments here in this thread.

Got the sp-250 today.

I've only played the acoustic earlier (except in the store), and i must say, it is not the same. When that is said, the keyboard-action of the sp-250 is quite good. Im not a very experienced piano player, but for me it felt very similar to the GH-action of yamaha.. But then again, its a week since ive tried the yamahas, and that was only for 30min at the shop.

About the sounnd. will come back to it later smile

About the sound. It is two things i feel i have to mention. The first is the duration of the tones produced is too short. Second, the keyboard sound varies in quality, from good in the middle (the most used), to not that good the lower end.

Buying a digitalpiano, you have to consider what's important to you. For me the keyboard action, at a reasonable price, is of greatest importance. And I feel I've gotten this in the sp-250.

The sound of the lower end is related to the built in speakers. Try the piano with a pair of real good headphones or with studio monitors and the low end will be totally different!

Best regards,
