i'm planning on getting a digital piano in a couple of weeks. i'd love to hear your feedback on the two models listed above, which are the ones i'm choosing between. i wonder if the price difference between the two is worth it. also, if anyone knows what a good price is for either or both models, i'd appreciate the information. many thanks!

if i were you, i wouldn't bother to look at CLP115 model, which is the low end of CLP and has not even counter part at the new CLP200 series. CLP230 is similar to CLP130 but better with GH3 action. between the 2, i'd just choose CLP230M, and forget about CLP115 which is no competition of CLP230.

Expect to pay around $1500.00 for the CLP-115 and expect to pay about $1900.00 for the CLP-230. The CLP230 is far worth the extra price, in a side by side test, you will probably choose the CLP-230.

Thank you for your responses! Do you think the CLP-230 is good for an adult learner? I am especially concerned about whether the CLP-230 will be effective in terms of strengthening my fingers when I do my Hanons and scales and arpeggios.

I think the CLP 230 is a terrific instrument, especially for your needs. I also agree with others to skirt over the 115 as the 230 is a far-better musical instrument and is Yamaha's state-of-the-art technology!

Let me know if you have any other Yamaha Clavinova questions.

I emailed a local music store today (the only one I found listed as a local reseller on the Yamaha website) and they told me the 230 was $2595. That seems a little steep to me. At $1900 I might consider buying it.

the new clp line's price varies greatly depending on the finish (there is no "clp 230" there is lots of clp230X where X is a diferent letter depending on the finish & they are all priced diferently) but if they wanted 2600$ for the cheapest model... don't go to this shop the prices are ridiculous (i can find it online at 1400euro real price / 1780 recommended price for the cheapest finish so there's no that 1400eu becomes 2600$ even if they sell for a bit more in the us)

$2595 is the MSRP. However, they expect you to bargain and will usually be able to lower the sale price by a few hundred dollars on the low models and likely more for the higher model numbers. $1900 would be pushing it, but if you're near enough to go visit, you should go in and let them know what price you are willing to pay and see if they'll match.

I was at a local Yamaha dealership couple weekends ago. They gave me a price of $2,095 for CLP 230 before any bargaining. CLP 115 is $1,499.
