Ok last thread from me regarding Yamaha digital pianos smile

I was wondering if anyone has yet actually tried the new CLP280 Digital Piano from Yamaha and can comment on the action of this piano compared to the action on the CLP175 which I am thinking about buying in the next couple of days. I know both pianos have the "Natural Keyboard" but they could still be different in feel. For example, I have found that the CVP309 and CLP175 have a different feel and both of these have the "Natural Keyboard" as well. I prefer the CLP175 action.

Also any comments about the difference in the quality of the piano sound between the CLP280 and CLP175 are also welcome.

Thanks again!!

The only difference between the CLP280 and the CLP270 is a different selection of cabinet finishes and that the 280 has "wooden" keys.

I have heard from a reliable source that the new CLP200 series instruments are now in transit to dealers.

Thanks Phil. I was trying to compare the new CLP280 with the older CLP175 both of which have Yamaha's Natural Keyboard.

Glad to hear the dealers will be getting the CLP280 in soon as I am anxious to try one out.

Still if anyone from overseas can comment on the difference, I would love to hear from you.

I'm not sure but I suspect the 280 has an identical action to the 175 (GH3 with wooden keys). However the 280 will have newer samples and most likely be a bit cheaper than the 175. In Europe the new 200 series is cheaper than the 100 series. Therefore I strongly advise that you wait until it comes out in the States. Even if after trying the 280 you still prefer the 175 you may be able to get a better deal on it if you wait until the 200 series is on sale.

That's good advice Paul. At the end of the day, there's nothing better than trying these keyboards for yourself.

I have the feeling I will end up getting the CLP175 unless the action on the CLP280 is everything as good as the CLP175.
