I'm looking at buying myself a digital piano, but one of the important factors is that it needs to be fairly portable. (so prefrebly not one that has the stand built to it).

I've looked at a few but i'm not sure which is best quality wise etc. Also i'd like it to be as versatile as possible so many voices is useful but not vital. I was looking between £300-£500.
Also it will be probably be used live so thats another factor. Also it may be ran though various effect pedals if thats important?
Any help please?

Size wise the casio px310/320 is about the size i'm after, though will go bigger if it works out worth it.

The few i've been looking at are:
Yamaha dgx620 - though this might be quite large
Casio px310
Casio px320

Any advice would be nice, are these good? rubbish? are there any others i should look at?

Thank you Smile

I'm going to buy my casio px320 this weekend... Went to local store this past weekend and fell in love with it.
I tried a few other DPs that people recommended on this board like the p140.
The p140 had the action i was looking for but the sound wasn't that great.

Went to another store and fell in love with the px320. Very good sound and just about the same action as the p140 in my opinion. Absolutely loved it.

Only weights 27 LBS so it could easily be carried with one arm.

Hope this helps.

haven't had any experience with the other 2.

no matter what brand you'd consider, get the latest model. Casio PX320 is new one, while PX310 is not. Yamaha DGX630 is coming to the market in 1-2 months, and therefore buying DGX620 doesn't make any sense. for portable and newer Yamaha, you can also check out P85 in the same price range.

for Casio, you can also consider newer PX200/800/720.

I have a Roland FP2 that has 88 hammer-action keys but fits into an SKB 76-key flight case, barely. My newer FP4 is an inch or so longer, so doesn't quite make the squeeze, but its sound and touch are quite superior to the previous model. Still, for packing into the back of the Fit for weekend trips, the FP2 makes a nice portable. There should be some available used, since many would want to replace theirs with the newer model, one would think.

Cheers,

Craig
