Well... I didnt really know where to put this question, so if this is not the right place, please some mod move it wink

Well, the thing is that I've been making a lot of improvisation lately on my CLP120, and I'd love to take them to sheet music, I have both Sibelius 2 and Finale...

Is there a way I can do this? like playing and the program automatically notating what I'm playing?... I know this may be possible with MIDI interface and stuff, but I know absolutely nothing about MIDI, so if anybody could help me out, I'd really appreciate it wink

Thx

-Jon

Balparda,

Yes, you can. Check "Flexi-time" in Sib.'s User's Guide. (Flexi is the Sib. term for real time input.)

It's important to tell Sib. how high you'll be playing with your left hand, so that you don't get LH notes entered in the treble staff.

For more help with Flexi-time try the Sib. forum @ http://www.sibeliusforum.com/forums/

I tend to play very high with the LH, and so far haven't been able to do real time input with any consistency. But at least you know where to look.

Please post how this works out for you.

Balparda,

Sorry, I'm rushing today. Trying to fix multiple problems with a digital piano.

Should have said that Sib.3 will do real time input, but that I don't know about v.2. Check your User's Guide index for Flexi-time, Recording, and MIDI.

If v.2 will do real time input, you'll need a MIDI interface. If your computer has a free USB port, M-Audio's 1X1 (MIDISport) will do all you need to do. It ships with a MIDI cable.

If you have a soundcard, you'll want to receive the output from that card. If you don't have a soundcard, the included sound chips will also work. Then, you'll just plug your headphones or speakers into the computer's audio output jack.

Please post if you need more help with this one. I'm not an expert, but do use Cubase/Halion for recording and do have Sib.3

David,

Thanks for your comments, at least now I know it's possible to do what I need smile

I don't really need Sibelius to give a ready-to-go notatio of the piece, I just need it to record the notes per se... I'll take care of the rest, I just need the notes....

I don't know how to get a MIDI station here... maybe you could point out some link so I can get an idea of what to look for? As I said, I know absolutely nothing about MIDI

Thanks a lot again

-Jon
