Hi, I'm new to the group and looking to buy a new digital piano. From my research online, the Casio models look attractive to me and in my price range (probably the AP 31 or 33). I haven't actually tried these out in a store yet, since no one around here seems to carry them. Before I buy one online, I just wanted to get some other folks' thoughts on these models.

Thanks in advance.

I got my ap31 one week ago(bot online--shipped from manufacture). pretty good, demo grand piano sound good. As I don't know much about music, so to me cannot figure out the subtle difference between a real one. But my 5-year old doesn't like to touch it. Guess got to wait for him grow up. I'm learning but don't have much time.

I tried the Privia 100 a few weeks ago.
Good value for money. Most stores online are offering it at $499. I do find the touch somewhat too light for me, but then I find very few digital pianos heavy enough for me.
If you're starting out, I think these do pack quite a lot of features at very attractive prices. At the same price range, I will also consider some Suzuki models.

I agree. The casio is a great piano, especially if you are starting out. I tried one in the store and was impressed, though I did feel the Tehnics had a better feel (closer to the accoustic). Also, the casio did not have as great a range of sound (light touches for a softer sounds, harder touches for a louder sound) though still had a decent range, just not as good as others I tried. BUT overall, was a really nice piano. If you are in the lower price range, a CASIO is definitely an excellent option.

I was offered the AP40 for $800.00 with bench. That's the only CASIO I looked at though....

Oh yea, my best friend who is an excellent pianist has a CASIO (I think it's AP21 or something) and she has been VERY happy with it.

I bot the PX100 from Costco 2 months ago. I'm very happy with my purchase. Excellent tone and touch. Highly recommended if you are looking for a piano in the $500 ~$700 price range. If you have more to spend, consider the AP38 that comes with a cabinet and 3 pedals and perhaps more features.

Be careful you dont break any keys on the PX-100 as the keybed is mounted to plastic rockers that are moulded as part of the lower half of the piano. And make sure you have extra speakers to hook up to as the speakers are WEAK! I havent heard of any reliability issues! (yet) but the keyboard assembly is very cheaply constructed hence the low low price!
