My thanks to everyone who has been tirelessly providing me with help on selecting a piano (digital or acoustic). I have been absorbing and weighing your arguments (for and against) very carefully.

There seems to be a new contender on the field (a mid-weight by my poor dilettante-ish assessment). The Yamaha PF500 seems to be somewhere between the P120 and the higher-end Clavinovas. Music123 is selling it for $2K.

There is yet no information on this digital piano on Yamaha's site (that, or I have not found it where I would have expected it). Has anyone tried this piano and can tell me more about it? confused

I found more information at:

http://www.musiciansnews.com/piano/34/pf500_home_keyboard.shtml

There is also a PF1000 which adds auto-accompaniment, a 320x240 LCD screen, video output (and a little more).

Still, the question is, how does this thing sound and play?
