I don't like to see what has been going on lately with the forum. To many of us, myself included this site is our music 'home'. How about another little trivia for a change?

1. Symphonie Fantastique bears a subtitle. Do you know what it is?

2. There had been only one other symphony of note with descriptions provided for each movement. What was it and who wrote it?

3. In the Symphonie Fantastique, what did Berlioz call the melody which represented the beloved?

4. In the fourth movement of the Symphonie Fantastique, what kind of execution was represented musically?

5. What famous plainsong melody was incorporated into the finale of the Symphonie Fantastique?

6. Berlioz was in demand for something other than composing. What was it?

7. For whom was the Symphonie Fantastique written?

8. What was the outcome of his passion for her?

9. What "band" instrument was incorporated for the first time in a major orchestral score in Symphonie Fantastique?

10. His opera "Beatrice and Benedict" is based upon what Shakespeare play?

1. "Impressions from the life of an artist" or something along those lines.

2. Beethoven, Symphony No. 6

3. Idée fixe.

4. That quite neat kind of execution where one's head is cut off by the means of a guillotine.

5. Dies Irae.

6. He also wrote for music magazines.

7. For the actress Harriet Smithson.

8. The break-up made him quite insane which made him travel to Paris with two guns in his backpack, with one of which he would shoot Mrs Smithson and with the other one himself. He recovered soon enough not to carry out his plan.

9. The ophicleide (looks like a brass bassoon with saxophone keys, a predecessor of the tuba).

10. There I have no idea. Let me guess: Romeo and Juliet?

I have an ice cream. I cannot mail it, for it will melt.
