Does anyone have any experience with this model? I'm trying to help a friend buy a piano, and he likes the Elgin. There are several available here of different ages, and techs here seem to like them, but I recall hearing someone say they don't regulate easily, and I'm concerned about its being so small.

The only problem that I have encountered with this model is the plastic jacks. I have run into a few that had to be replaced because they broke. This makes me a little nervous about them. I can't remember if the ones I replaced were black plastic though, so they may have been before the transition to ABS. I have tuned lots of them without this problem though, so make sure the jacks are black plastic.

This model always strikes me as a triumph of marketing over engineering with their "Grand Piano In Upright Form" proudly proclaimed in a console piano. I always use this as an example of why "Upright Grand" doesn't really mean anything at all when customers ask what it means.

This model is OK but nothing special. They weren't the worst pianos from Heintzman but they were after they days of greatness, somewhere down that slippery slope.

Thanks, Thomson. I know what you mean about the "upright grand" thing. There's just no explaining this to some customers!
