recentelly I had to tune four old NY St&S's(aprox.1910-1925).Each time I had the feeling that they're vibrating much more than the Hamburg St&S's I'm use to.I felt it especially in the tuning-hammer,to be more accurate.
Is it just an impression, or is it about the construction?

Did you check the plate bolts and screws for tightness? I have heard some NY 1920's S&S that the soundboard was working as well as a brand new one. No loss of power in the killer octave section.

Frankly,I didn't tought at that.On the nother side, each time was tuning on the run for the next piano.
One of them I do remember that had really no killer octave.
Next time I will make the time to check more.If interesting,I can give the results.
Thanks(and sorry for the so coled English....)
