Ron I have a wife for that job. Don't need no goats. We have an agreement: She keeps the 3 acres mowed and trimmed and I keep all the equipment running. I don't know how many times I working in my shop and she comes thundering up on a lawn tractor and says "this damn thing is going chuchunk ka chunk, ka chunk and don't work anymore. fix it."

I used to ask her "what did you hit this time" but found questioning not good for my health.

Sam, I have found trying to get mine to mow is not good for my health. Some wild creatures can be tamed and trained, others...well, ya just never seem to get a "bridle strap" on 'em...hehehe

I just hate it when you have a nice concert grand and the sound guys make it sound like a bad spinet.

Yeah when the tape mikes, run cables, lay metal switching boxes on the board, snake those helpinstiles under the dampers and then say, "Hey tuner, there a buzz coming thru on the mike. What's wrong with the piano?"

when you're customer has brand new wood floor, a vertical piano and loose board buttons buzzing away. Who wants to mark up the floor?

Oh man, I had to pull out a Kawai from the wall on a beautiful brand new hard oak floor. This person happens to be my own lawyer so, I laughed at him and said, hey, screw you buddy. Pull the piano out and sue yourself instead of me when you scratch your floor. He laughed and pulled it out so I could flip it and tighten the bottom board screws and fix the castor's. But, only after we put down nice soft fuzzy blankets to help prevent scratching.

Had an Acro today with board pulled away at the bottom treble side. Had to lift the piano out far enough to get my 225lbs back there, epoxe and lift the bugger back again. Gotta knock off those Big Macs...

I hate it when I voice my thumb...especially when the customer has brand new hammers and a white carpet.

When, you drop your rubber mute between the strings and harp on a grand and (of course) it falls sideways landing where you can't grab it so, you have to fish it out little by little all the way down the sounding board to an open area without scratching the sounding board thinking "oh, golly, gee wiz" the whole time.

Today......

When, you had spent a lot of time saving your best tuning onto RCT that I had done on the Bosendorfer at the college I service for, put your glasses on, pull up that tuning on RCT. You tune the piano, get about 3/4 done, check it a little bit and think, hmmm, this isn't sounding like what I had saved. So, you look again and that's when you realize that you had instead pulled up a Baldwin SF tuning that you had saved instead of the Bose tuning.

It wasn't bad but, I did have to change a few things. Murphy strikes again!

Here's mine. Measuring the pitch which is way flat with my strobe. Writing it down on the sheet. Forgetting, and leaving the thing set at -8C or something...tuning half the piano before realizing my error. Starting over.

Speaking silently to myself about this.

when you open the car door and are blasted with a sweet petroleum smell and realize you didn't get the lid on the ProTek snugged down AGAIN. There goes another 50 bucks.

Hahahaha Sam!!! I'd forgotten!! Something like that happened to me while driving down the highway about a month ago. The spray smell permeated my entire car. I kept wondering, what in the heck is that smell?? Then, it hit me!!! By the time I had figured it out, pulled off the highway to check it, most of a whole brand new can of ProTek had been sprayed away into my trunk and stunk for about a day or so...

Thanks for the laugh!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one! laugh

or when you CA glue gets busted open in the storage case and you have a mass of bridle tapes, felt, shanks and spare regulation tools glued solid to the bottom of the box.

RPD's story reminded me about pitch-raising a Gulbransen spinet last week. Got up to the tenor break and went into TuneLab's Overpull page to change the percent from 12 to 25. Realized I had tuned the whole bass with it set to 25.

When, you open a gallon of milk, the cap slips out of your fingers, you go to grab for it sloshing the milk all over in your attempt to catch it. It falls anyway, hits your foot, goes into the roll mode and rolls 20 feet away around a corner, out of sight, and of course, goes into hiding under someone's pair of stinky shoes. bah

I hate it when I ask if I could use the wash room and I'm led to the laundry room. Happened to my twice.
