This was fun!!!
These are all really funny and I have heard each one too except the one about the dog lapping up the hot glue but to me, that was the funniest because people have different reactions to the odor. It makes some people hungry for lunch and makes others lose their appetite.

I'm not a veterinarian or anything but fortunately, I don't think the hot glue is at the same time tasty to a dog but toxic like radiator fluid.

Hot glue is gelatin. It just has not been purified enough for human consumption.

Once, while I was finishing tuning the high treble for a well known country artist, the stage manager walked over and said "Don't worry about that, he only plays up there with his boot".

I have seen someone playing a piano I tune on stage with his feet! Once, when I was tuning it for them, a member of the group looked at me and said, "Well, that's a waste!"

It is a good show, though. They have been doing one show every year for 23 years, running for 4 nights, and they still sell the place out.

I went to a piano yesterday and couldn't find the house number -- where it should have been was a house clearly in the midst of construction, garden all muddy, workmen in and out, doors open, and so on. I asked one of the fellows outside if this was the right number. "Yes -- why do you ask?" "I'm the piano technician, and I usually come a little later in the project." "Oh. I'm the stereo set-up person, doing sound checks, and I usually come quite a bit earlier than the piano technician."

The guy drilling intermittently in the kitchen was kind of a drag for both of us.

Turns out the customer works in an ER and I guess he figured chaos was a normal part of the work day. Thank goodness for Tunelab.

You bet. No, it didn't make any sense -- but the customer had apparently set a date for moving his family back into the house after a months-long rehab project, brought them back per date, brought the piano in from storage per date, and was having it tuned because his daughter had tried it the previous day (her first day home) and it "didn't sound right." My heart just went out to that little girl, living in the midst of all that uproar -- at least I could give her a better-sounding piano.

Aww... Good for you, Dorrie. If she sticks with it though, later on, she'll be able to play anywhere, for anyone. Yeesh... frown

After confirming the appointment the evening before...

I get to the door and the woman asks, "Have you had chicken pox?"

"Yes. Why?"

"Because I've had shingles for the past two weeks."

Also...

- "We turned the furnace on two days after you tuned the piano, and now it sounds more out of tune than before you tuned it."

at a tuning, a dad describes to me that a five your old that "always" like to help....

underarm and in the way as if to get an elbow in the head as I'm trying to tune that was until the kid found my tools and took a mute.

after the novelity wore off, gots dressed in a power rangers outfit and asks me if he can show me the handgun the dad sleeps with......

ah no, thats fine..

My tuning mentor years ago told me a story about how he had to tune a piano in a bar where the juke box was playing very loud. He felt like he was struggling with the tuning until it was finished, and then said that he never had a tuning that turned out so good. His problem then was that how he can carry around a juke box every where he went to tune.
