Does anyone know the size and threads specs for these? I have to replace one next week, and I haven't been able to contact Young Chang directly. I have Pianotek's generic replacement agraffes, and am hoping one of those will work. They have agraffes with American measurements and some metrics which apparently are designed for German pianos. The fellow I talked to there didn't know much about what is used in Asian pianos.

Thanks for any assistance or comments,

Jeff

Do you have a thread pitch gauge?

They are usually part of a tap and die set,but I think they're available separately.

Most agraffes use unusual, extra fine thread pitches. I would not know where to get a gauge for them.

You can compare the old with the new, but that does not help with pre-ordering.

maybe try Sameck and see if theirs will work or Pearl River, as the Chinese make alot of label pianos!

Last Young Chang I replaced had a 1/4 x 32TPI. Not going to get that at most supply houses. Renner might have something. Might want to call the supply houses and see if they have something not listed in their catalog.

A standard thread gauge usually goes up to 40 tpi. You can get one easily enough at a napa auto or a snap-on truck. One usually comes with a decent tap and die set.

A decent machine tool store would carry them also, Production Tool is popular in our area.

Thought I'd follow up, if anyone's interested:

It turns out the agraffes on these Prambergers are a larger diameter than 1/4", which is the largest size Schaff and PianoTek sell (even unlisted). Since nothing I had would fit, and I couldn't get through to parts at YC, I ended up taking one off a Pramberger PG-150 that is partially disassembled. Fortunately the agraffes were identical.

It's really too bad Young Chang parts & service seems to be going through one of their "incommunicado" periods ... a few months ago I had no problem at all getting some pedal levers.

I'd be interested to know if other Asian pianos have this larger size agraffe. Neither the person I talked to at PianoTek, nor the person at Schaff, seemed to know much about what those companies use. I haven't actually measured the YC agraffe's diameter or threads yet, but I hung onto the broken one for future reference.

Jim: Interesting idea about other makes, Samick in particular. I may check into that for the future. Dale: I'll probably look into Renner, at least when it comes time to replace the agraffe I borrowed from the PG-150.

Jeff
