Hi All - I have no right to be in amongst you learned technicians, but just dont know who to turn to about this:
When visiting a piano dealer, I noted a cross section model model a piano key and the entire mechanism to the hammer - there was one for an upright and another for a grand. Any ideas where I can get one each of these? I've got to have it in my living room. !!! Thanks Sandeep

Try this site: PTG.org RennerUSA might have them for sale. Check this out http://www.rennerusa.com/VirtualActionModel.asp They aren't cheap, but they are quite interesting conversation pieces and extremely useful for learning the inner workings of our beloved instrument.

They're a couple hundred bucks ($500 for the Steinway version with sostenuto). Here's one source: http://www.piano-action-model-made-by-renner.com/ They show up on eBay from time to time. Search for "piano action model". --Cy--

Cy Shuster: Indeed it works out to kust under 500 Canadian. Tad pricey for me. Piannaman: Thanks for the tip - emailed Renner usa.
Let you know the outcome.
p.s the mathematics behind the piano action is equally interesting !!
