I am wondering if an after market player system installation devalues a piano. And what effort would it take to put the piano back into it's original condition (without the player system).

For some buyers, it could add to the value, while others may be turned off to the idea, thus detracting from the value.

If the installation is done well, you will get more use out of the piano, and thus the piano will be of more value to you.

Even if the system is removed, remember, there will still be a narrow slot cut into the keybed, and some trapwork components may have to be replaced. Additionally, for many pianos, the top-back of the legs need to be cut into some, so what was removed will likely stay removed.

Many newer pianos are pre-engineered to accept player systems, so there are fewer modifications in the first place. What sort of piano (maker-model-age) do you have? (or are considering gettting??)

This is a 10 year old Bechstein with a system already installed. It's a piano I was seriously considering before realizing that some of its structural components may have been removed. I don't know if it was pre-engineered for the player system, but I will find out.
