Hi Everyone!

Remember the thread many moons ago when someone asked what to do about warming up cold hands at the keyboard?

Jodi suggested a great resource for fingerless gloves. I ordered a Christmas pair for my son when he was home for the holidays. He loved them! He says they warm your palms without making them sweat, and you forget you have them on after awhile, they are that thin. He showed them to his piano teacher and he is passing the recommendation along to his university students.

It's interesting to note they were designed for fishermen as a sun protector!

Cool, Joy! (or should I say "Warm!") Glad he likes them. Jodi

I like to wear fleece gloves before I play and when I don't have them, I put my hands on my neck. It warms them up pretty quick.

When I was in the U.S. Army (Viet Nam era) we had a first aid course in basic training. On the final exam we were asked:

How should you best warm up your hands if they are frostbitten?

(A) In front of a hot fire.
(B) In a pail of boiling hot water.
(C) Rapidly in your armpit.
(D) Slowly in your armpit.

The answer was (D). The sergeant who was going over the test with us stated: "Any of you guys what can warm up something rapidly in his armpit is a better man than I am."

Yes, Palindrome, I remember hearing that frost bite should be warmed up slowly. When I was quite a young child I remember my grandfather's car breaking down (in NH) in winter and he had got frost bitten ears. When he got to the house, they kept ice packs against his ears for a while until they warmed up gradually!

bernard, were his ears black from the frostbite, and did they heal okay? just dreadfully curious...

Rodion, I don't know if they were black, I was quite young. But they did heal OK.
