Anyone heard this piece before? I just heard it on the radio. It's been described as having a "diabetes-inducing sugariness." It sounds nice the first time through, but the sweetness and lack of conflict does get slightly tiring, especially halfway into the second movement. As I've noticed, there are a whole lot of I-IV-V progressions in that piece too.

Anyone familiar with any of his other music?

Not familiar with it. Judging by the name of the piece, along with the samples I found at amazon, it looks like her wrote the piece only for the white keys on a piano. Given those limitations, there's only so much you can do harmonically. IMHO he'd have to develop some musical aspect other than harmony to keep this piece from getting really stale really fast. If it's got good melodic or ryhthmic interest that might be enough to make it more effective as a composition... I don't know - those are just some thoughts based on what I heard in the samples - maybe heard as a whole the piece comes off nicely.

What you are is an accident of birth. What I am, I am through my own efforts. There have been a thousand princes and there will be a thousand more. There is one Beethoven.
