Hi, I would like as much feedback as possible on this orchestral piece. It is a three movement work.

Tell me what you like about the piece, what works for you, and also what you think needs improvement.

I would also be interested in what influences you spot in the piece - let's see if you are right!

I broke it down into the 3 movements, together it is under 10 minutes long.

That is a spectacular compostion. Mahler, Shastakovich, Arvo(?). Recently heard an orchestral compostion with lots of percussion, and I thought the announcer said it was by Arvo. Will check with my daughter about it.

I love your composition. Tell us more about the circumstances of your writing it. If you put it on a CD, I would love to purchase it. It is just amazing. Congratulations on a wonderful work.

I have no suggestions about improving it. I like it just as it is. Gaby Tu

Nice work, good job!

I found the whole work quite reminiscent of a Wagner opera smile

Thank you!

Gaby, about the circumstances -

When I was writing it, my father was sick and things were not looking so great. He eventually had a triple bypass heart surgery - he is doing OK now, but it was a rough time.

If you listen to that second movement, it is especially a bit dark and somber - with some doubts about what could be going on.

Crash Test. I found the second movement an excellent contrast between the first and third movements. In fact, even though mvts. 1, and 2, are dark and somber, the second movement seems to me more meditative---very spiritual--almost a center of peace between the turbulent 1st and 2nd movements, where there is constant motion. I did not sense doubt, but perhaps resignation?

The name of the composer I was thinking of is Arvo Parte. He uses a lot of percussion in his works.

I have listened to your compostion several times, and each time I find something new in it. Really, a very very fine composition. Gaby Tu

Thank you, I appreciate it. The meditative or spiritual mood is actually very accurate as you mention it - but there is certainly some discord there as well.

CrashTest,

I tried to download the first file and it's 41MB!
Anyway you can compress it with MP3 or something? Something like 128 kb/s will do.
Get the file size down to something more manageable.

The more "reasonable" the file size, the more people can download it successfully.

I will see if it can compress it - anyone else had trouble downloading because of the size?
