I've just recently been able to perform the whole Suite Bergamasque: Prelude, Minuet, Clair de Lune, and Passepied by Debussy. Who else has played these? I was wondering if any others out here love this man's music as passionately as I do. My friends have wondered if I'm in love with a man who lived a 100 years ago. laugh But really I'm just in love with his music. Any Debussy fans out there?

I've been working on the prelude for a good chunk of time preparing it for exam. I quite love it and hope to work on the other movements in this suite AFTER the stress of the exam is over and done with <can't be too soon!>

This piece has made me a solid Debussy fan.

Cheers/IS

Like most of us, I first stumbled across the Bergamasque after falling for Clair de Lune. I've played the whole suite, and I like the Minuet and Passepied even better than CdL -- they're less ethereal, and the harmonic modulations are every bit as good as you'll find anywhere else in Debussy's music. Wave goodbye to your friends and start practicing. wink

Yup. Currently working on 2 pieces: Clair de Lune (fancy that...) and La Puerta del Vino, from Book 2 of his Preludes. Both are just about performance-ready.

I have not heard a Debussy piece I don't like, he's definitely one of my facvorite composers of all time, I'm working on several preludes as well as L'isle Joyeuse, AMAZING pieces ;D

I love Suite Bergamasque, the Passepied especially is really cool.

I like Clair de Lune - it's a lot of fun and not too hard for my mediocre piano skills. It's fun to listen to and fun to play, so it's always fun to practise.

My dad literally just finished it up and has wanted to do it forever and he just finished. He says he would join and talk to you but he's too busy. Maybe later. wink

I'm glad that all of you guys share my love for Debussy's music especially the Suite Bergamasque.

Well when he's not as busy, tell him to get on here and talk to me about it! wink

Hey Mandel,

Good for you! How did it go? I played just the prelude a whiles back at a concert. Last week I played the whole suite at a recital. I hope I can perform it again soon, because it was so much fun!
