Just got his new Rachmaninov disc and I think his interpretation of the 2nd Sonata is stunning! His earlier release on EMI was exceptional too. What does everyone think of him?

Well, I've only heard a live recording of his Prokofiev 3rd PC, but I was very impressed with it - he clearly has a really blistering technique at his disposal.

What made it more impressive still was that he had stood in for Boris Berezovsky (sp?) at a day's notice - flying from Belgrade to Glasgow, to perform in the evening.

Do you still have that recording? It's not released on CD is it? Any way I could listen to it?

Yes, I do have it. I'm pretty sure it hasn't been released. In the past, I've distributed things via other people here, however, after this discussion , I won't be doing that anymore. I'm sorry; I hope you understand.

Well, everyone must do as they think best, Bruce. It would be grossly hypocritical for me to claim any sort of moral high-ground.

Simon was just in SF giving a bouncy rendition of the SS-2; however, more interesting was the encore - he played a dance by one of his landsmann composer associates.
