Hi all,

Here is another bit of technique I need to find a way to tackle to get this one bit of a suite I've written down.

In the right hand there is a turn in thirds spanning 3/8ths worth of time (in a 12/8 time signature, in this case the last 3/8ths of a bar) and it is a bit of an accelerating quintuplet, meaning I can hang on the first third a bit, but then have to pass through the other four fairly cleanly for a quick jump to a slightly higher register.

The group is naturally fingered 24-35-24-13-24, but has anyone come across this kind of a figure before, possibly knowing a good way to break it down? The specific notes are F#A-G#B-F#A-EG#-F#A with a jump directly up to AC#G#.

I've tried playing the higher and lower voices on their own, but my trouble is that it's hard to get the ensemble tight enough between the fingers to make it sound clean.

There is a similar passage in the coda of the 4th ballade by chopin I am learning, but the difference is that they are just triplet values in this case (with an extra 35 at the end), so getting a downbeat on the 13 makes it much more manageable.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Trills in thirds are difficult to do no matter what the fingering is. I have found that good finger independence really helps with these. I believe there are some etudes by Czerny that deal with sticky problem. If I come across them in my search, I'll let you know.
