In books on music one frequently sees copies of posters from - now - historical concerts, e.g., debut performances of a popular piece.

I wonder whether there is a market for that kind of stuff. I'd like to have some of these posters as decoration for my piano room. I'd be interested in both original posters and copies thereof.

I did not find anything like that at ebay.

Any hints where I might find what I am looking for?

A forum member who briefly posted in early 2003, Zongora, stole concert posters from Carnegie Hall a long time ago. (posters that had used their useful lives up). Check Carnegie Hall archives

www.carnegiehall.org/intro.jsp

archives can be found under the 2nd "essentials" menu near the top

There are some opera posters at www.art.com (under music->classical) which I came across while looking (in vain) for a portrait of Bach.

They're hard to come by. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra sells some during their Radiothon (Symphoniathon). You can check their website early in the year - and see. They've also sold some in their store.

Otherwise, I do see them on E-bay from time-to-time. I saw one for Arthur Rubinstein performing in a city in South America a few months back.

Not easy to come by -- funny because there are a couple of them I'd have paid big bucks to have.
