Ok, sorry for the late post-- been kinda busy today.

Anyway, time's up so share your progress and then move on to no. 2!

Here's my recording; it's not as fast as I wanted, but I didn't practice it for several days, and didn't make the progress I intended, therefore could not get it consistent at 108.

With apologies to Czerny for adding the walking bass line that he should have. wink

Very good, you guys. Fleet fingers--I love that jazz bass man. Question: what kind of pianos were these recorded on? The actions sound fast--and one must remember the type of instrument Czerny wrote these on and for whom.

When I need a crisp sound, for recording either very dense or very busy music, I run over to use my friend's beautifully miked Yamaha C3. I can get the same result with my Steinway Model B but I can't get that crisp, precise articuation to record as well here. The action itself on the Yamaha is more conducive to speed. I can manage an 8.5 second 175 note flawless chromatic run on the Yamaha (lowest A to highest C and back), and the best I can manage on my Steinway is about 10 seconds without overplaying the keyboard:

Even at half = 120 (about 16 to 18 points faster than I recorded it at with the left hand counterpoint), the Czerny is still as playable on my Steinway as it is on the Yamaha, but when approaching the upper end of my velocity, the Yamaha speaks faster than the Steinway before overplaying the keyboard becomes a problem. I'm definitely saving my pennies for a Yamaha C7 (the 7'6" model) that I have my eyes on to lock up with Steinway.

This is done very well, but I might be able to make a technical suggestion that would push up your speed and articulative evenness significantly if you can tell me about the shape of your hand and fingers (better yet if you can post a link to a picture of your hand resting on the keys in playing position, wrist included).
