RKVS1/Palindrome/Others:

Thanks for the tips on other rags and websites. I will definitely check them out.

I had no idea there were so many other ragtime players out there.

Oh, it's REAL easy to kill them in the pool. You have to wait until they come home from work already very tired and then make them swim. Keep clikcin on swim as their energy goes down. They'll start grumbling for sleep, and as soon as all of their energy is gone they just fall asleep in the water and die.

The best part is that whenever they die, it automatically takes a picture for the photo album. I think we do need therapy. laugh

Brendan and Nina,

I definitely think you need to spend more time at your pianos. ;-)

Then, perhaps I should take up a different instrument, or just focus on improving my skills playing the ... CD changer.

Very true...I will admit that spending 4 hours a day in a room the size of a dorm hacking away at an oblong box will have an affect on one after a while.

Have you bought any of the expansion packs? I was thinking about getting the "Hot Date" one, but the missus might become jealous if she found out that I had a virtual mistress... laugh

Nina I wouldn't really describe myself as a ragtime PLAYER, more listener, enjoyer and impersonator. frown
Perhaps somewhat relevant to your SIMS sins, Brendan, was an experiment I attempted a few years ago when in deep frustration with my inability to reproduce the long left hand stride jumps from single base notes in the first octave to the chords in the third, I affixed an appendage to my left elbow with which I intended to voice the fundamental tones. (I tried several items including extra thick pencils with large eraser tips, but would recommend most the miniature crutches found in the "Car-Crash Barbie" or the "Krippled Ken" dolls which were marketed during the 1998 season.) Even being generous to myself, the experiment could most aptly be described as abject failure, as the posture change resulted in shoulder damage and a change in my walking gait. In addition, the increasingly frequent appearance of pigeons and chickens gathering to follow me on my park jogs while simultaneously flapping only their left wings gradually became an embarrassment to me and I terminated this approach.

My guilty pleasure is rock and pop music. As you all know I'm a huge Elton John fan. I also like Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Queen.

I will be playing classical for my next recital. I couldn't convince my teacher to let me dress up like Elton and play "I'm Still Standing." laugh

I need to practise more. I think I'm developing carpal tunnel syndrome frown I'm on the computer all day at work and I get online when I get home. (I usually start out just checking my e-mail and wind up being online for hours...I'm such a 'net addict  )

P.S. - Hey Fritz, I see you're from Hatfield. I'm from Telford..howdy neighbor! smile

I like rag music. I can't play it that well (nor have I tried too much of it), but I love listening to it. My favriote include: Mapleleaf Rag, The Entertainer, The Cascades, Stop Time Rag, and just about anything eles that Scott Joplin wrote. I'm not saying that I like all of it, but a lot of it. I don't think that I've really heard any other rag than Scott Joplin. I wouldn't be able to name anyother rag time composers.

WARNING: Faint of heart, please skip this post! laugh

Well Brendan, I killed off an entire household of smarmy Sims (am I the only one who eventually gets annoyed by these guys?). I killed one by refusing to let him get out of the pool; the other starved to death (I just deleted their fridge and phone, though-- phone so they couldn't call out for pizza).

You can also move their tombstones and urns when no one is mourning them; have you a graveyard in SimTown?

I've never bought any expansion packs but I have downloaded some stuff off of the web. My family would disown me if I bought more computer games at this stage!

I apologize for the off-thread tangent, this will be my last Sim post (but thanks for the tips, Brendan).

It's a game called "The Sims" produced by Maxis (they made some other stuff such as "SimCity"). Basically, you get to control a person's life and are responsible for feeding, bathing, finding work, love, (or as Nina and I do, killing :D) etc. Highly addictive! I didn't practice for a good week and a half after I bought it.

PC. If you've got an extra $45 lying around (unlike me :D), go out and buy it at Circuit City or Best Buy.

Wintel PC's, primarily. It may be available for Mac as well. Reputed to be highly addictive.

But you don't need it, Jodi; you have kids!

You're right, I don't need it. You are looking at the woman who gave herself tennis elbow playing "Myst". Besides, I have this place. smile Jodi
