I've been working on this piece for 2 days now, it's slow going but so rewarding when i can finally increase the MM and get it one step closer smile

I was just wondering, in the RH, which fingering do you use, thumb and ring finger, or thumb and pinkie?

I was always taught on black notes you use your fourth finger, it has a farther reach and is stronger than your fifth. My husband who is also a pianist but not as advanced questions my technique and says it looks wierd, LOL.

So I was just wondering what all of you did... any tips on this piece in general is also appreciated!

Thanks!

I assume that you mean the opening theme with its leaps. Is that correct?

I've done nothing more than play the leaps in the RH, which is no real feat, but, for what it's worth, I used 4th and 5th fingers together to make it easier. When I normally do leaps (up to white keys), I will usually use the 5th finger.

Regards,

Daniel

yes, the opening theme... and much of the piece! lol. I will try what you suggested, it's a good idea actually and will provide more strength and hopefully make things easier laugh

i would use the pinky finger, cus even though for most black keys, its easier to use ur 4th finger, but thats only because u r usually reaching FORWARD for the black keys. but in this case, u r reaching SIDEWAYS, so i recommend using ur pinky.

lol. when it comes to la campanella, take advantage of ur hand length and stretchiness. =D

I use the pinky finger just because it feels a lot more natural to jump back and forth when the hand is in that position. At least it is for me.

i use the pinky as well for the same reason as Theowne. It just feels right.

So I had a question about how to play the notes about two lines down from the second double bar--my right hand never seems to come out with the c#/d# both each lower note. the 5/2121 right after also the 2121 always lags behind. I watched a million videos and no one else seems to have this problem. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Thank you
Christopher

A bar number reference would be helpful?

I use pinkie and thumb throughout.
Few questions though, theres a few parts I just couldn't get it right.

1. Somewhere in the middle when theres a quick succession of 3 repeated notes, i can never hit all 3 clearly when i play at a slightly faster pace. How do I practice for that, or is it just my piano suck laugh

2. The coda, left hand octaves, how do train yourself to play fast and hit the right notes?
