Just finished my comps. SIGH. It was painful, but not as bad as I thought it would be. Thankfully, the essay questions were mostly things that I had studied so I was able to shell things out without thinking about it because I had researched it already.

Kind of screwed up part of the theory on Palestrina (said that mixolydian was mode 4 when it's mode 7 - **** ) as well as an example for other cyclic masses in the 15th century (said that Dufay's "Missa se le face ay pale" was based on a motet when it's based on a ballade - **** ). Otherwise, I nailed everything else. Hopefully, the gods will smile upon me in spite of my transgressions and I won't have to repeat this experience (until DMA...hehehe).

Having had the experience of living through comps and cumes and everything else in between, I know the feeling when you've written your final answer to the final question of a grueling 3-day exam (as what my comps were). And it was a H U G E relief.

So celebrate and hope that the marks fall your way.

Congratulations, Lyn! I am also a new proud owner of a Kawai K-18. My first piano lesson is this week and I can't wait!

You may have been worried, but I don't think any of us were.

Decompress, relax, enjoy the release....

Brendan,

Very happy for you. I'll never be able to listen to Palestrina the same way now...

Nice job! Bet you're relieved.

Did you happen to hear Pridonoff's recital at Xavier?

Congrats!
I was so happy after I finished my oral exam and defense of my thesis! I would have rather faced the last judgement than gone through that! But I made it! Fortunately for me, two of the professors on my committee had just received promotions that day so they were in a very good mood.
You deserve to "celebrate"!!!

Sorry, late to this party.

Congrats, Brendan, well done!

So what's next - do you have a thesis to defend? Or a Master's Recital to prepare for? (Is it a performance degree you're going for?)

Just a recital and a few classes, then I'm done with my MM.

After that, the real punishment begins.

Good job! I knew you would be fine. (I actually thought that Dufay's "Missa se le face ay pale" was based on a motet as well. Glad I know now!)
I know how exciting it is to be almost done...I only have about 5 months to go...and then I have my B.A! yes!

Then, I move into your world...masters, here I come!
