Can anyone recommend a tuner/tech in Philadelphia?

I just acquired a Kawaii UST-7 that will be moved in the next few days and need tuning/TLC.

Thanks.

Well, there is one company that maintains a staff of well trained technicians that can deal with everything from concert tuning to regulation, voicing, and full rebuilding. They boast most of the local colleges and universities as clients as well as some professors at these same institutions.

Now what was their name again?? smile

Seriously, call us and we can help.

If I lived in Philly, Cunningham is where I'd go for a tech. smile

That there Rich dude can also give you recommendations about cheesesteaks or scrapple.

We're all waiting for Cunningham to introduce the Galassini-190. It should blow Fazioli out of the water. Rumor has it that ya can order it "wit" or "widout."

(OOPS - that's a different thread)

Call Rich - nobody else knows what is going on in the area like he does.

I agree--call Rich at Cunningham for anything piano-related. He is wonderful, and will give you excellent recommendations that you can trust absolutely. I would recommend that you not ask him about scrapple, though. I found out what scrapple was made of long before I knew Rich, and I have not touched the stuff since. There are some things one is better off not knowing, and the contents of scrapple is one of them.

SOLD! I'll call as soon as the piano is delivered and has a few weeks to settle in. I am quite familiar with Rich and Cunningham's reputation. Say no more.

BTW - you're right, some things man was not meant to know. But that's not gonna stop me from ordering scrapple. You must understand, that for foodies, Philly is really a well-kept secret. There is so much great food between the Reading Terminal Market, 9th Street, Washington Avenue and the Italian Market- there's real Mexican, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Polish.... just stop me! I lived and worked in New York for twenty-five years. I can't tell you how wonderful it's been to come back to the Philly area. And then to be bitten by the piano bug late in life, and know there's Cunningham. Pretty cool.

This may be true, RPA, but that does not make it taste any less delicious going down.

jrcallen,

I am glad you found your way back to Philly. The variety of foods, music, the arts... and pianos available here have really increased over the past couple of decades.

I could eat my way through this city (In fact, I think I have) and attend a different concert almost every night.

This is almost a funny as when people come to us asking for same.

Or going to a well known dentist office asking for a good dentist in the area...

Guess answer was already given!

Norbert:

The difference is I didn't come to a dealer asking for advice...I came to the PW forum, asking for advice from piano consumers.

I was under the impression that a few subscribed to this forum. I may be wrong.

I am a mere piano consumer, and gave the above advice to seek out Rich Galassini and Cunningham based on my own personal experience with them as a consumer. Cunningham is terrific, with an excellent reputation, and will give you excellent advice which you should not hesitate to accept. I am just adding this post in case you had gotten concerned about this, as your above post seems to suggest you might have done.

I continue to feel that you should NOT seek out information on the contents of scrapple, however.

Thanks, RPA, I have no reservations about dealing with Rich and Tim at Cunningham.

When I order scrapple, I never ask.

Reminds me of a dinner I had in Tucson, Ariz., a while ago. My companion asked where the shrimp on the menu were from. A really sweet young waitress said, "Phoenix, I think."
