I'm accompanying a blind girl for a contest and i'm trying to help her find a song to sing in Spanish.. she has an excellent range and strong voice. (she sang the national anthem at our city's sports stadium) She'll be competing with those with classical vocal training. She's already selected 2 Celine Dion songs.. kind of French folk/love songs.

we're looking for kind of classical/popular mix... something familiar - yet a challenge for singers.

i haven't a clue - if anyone has any ideas.. thanks.

How about Volver... It was used in the movie Volver. It was a popular Argentine Tango song decades ago, but for the recent movie Spanish flamenco singer Estrella Morente did a very Spanish version of it and it was a big hit last year... in Spain at least. I could send it to you if you wanted, just let me know.
