JonBrom,

So, you noticed those big claws of his. His fingers are quite long, which allows him to use the whole key very easily. But his reach isn't extraordinary ........ yet. He can grab a tenth, which a lot of people can do. I suspect his reach (width) will expand as he grows a little, and he'll likely have an easy eleventh. Whether or not he gets to a twelfth is anybody's guess.

But I imagine he will be able to handle it sometime in the next few years. A piece like that needs an advanced technique so that it doesn't sound like a mere banging noise
The reason why I mentioned it was because I read an old topic you made about the piece. I think that your son may have a chance since he can handle the jumps in Rachmaninoff's G-minor prelude with ease. The Prokofiev-Toccata do also have a lot of repeated figurations that is even possible to handle even in the early stage of learning.

I also liked his Montages and Capsules(?).

Alkey,

I really liked the middle section. You drew out the beauty of that part with a nice relaxed technique. Congratulations on a fine performance. You also had a very receptive audience!

BTW, what did you think of the piano? Over my speakers it sounded really bright as glass, but that could have been the recording medium instead of the piano.

Anders,

Yes, the Montagues & Capulets is a fun piece, as are most of the other nine in the Romeo and Juliet suite. Lugansky has put out a very nice CD of the whole suite.

When Piano*Son was eleven he heard a young twelve year old performer on From the Top (a radio show over here) play it. My son decided that if this kid could do it at age twelve, so could he! And he did. It was wonderful motivation.

thanks for the comments smile really appreciate them.

To answer Piano dad's question; the piano was wonderful (Steinway), deep rich bass with responsive touch. I don't recall it being a very bright piano. Maybe the sound i produced during the 2nd section was a bright glassy sound. ^^; don't know.

I just recorded these on Saturday at my father's birthday party, for several of my parents' friends. At first the plan was to just post these as private, but since finding this thread, thought I'd go ahead and jump in! Anyway, here goes:
