Hey everyone,

Haven't been on for a really long time, so here's an update.

I just finished my last music theory exam(History 5) last week on friday, it was pure torture studying for the exam and i got a really tough one but hopefully I will pass.

ARCT Performer's comming up soon. Today my teacher asked me to play everything for her.Anyway this was the order that I chose to play the pieces in and will for my exam:

Bach Partita no.2 in c minor (Sinfonia) BWV826
Haydn Sonata in E flat major Hob/49;L/59 (Complete)
Chopin Etude in F major Op.10 no.8
Rachmaninoff Prelude in g sharp minor op.32 no.12
Prokofiev Visions Fugitives nos.3,5,8&10
Mendelssohn Andante &Rondo Cappriccioso

Overall my teacher was pleased with what I was able to show her and she noticed a couple of things that never stood out to her before I guess.
She was very happy with my Bach Partita and I was actually rather suprised as she is'nt someone who will often shower praises on her student. She said the last 2 parts off my Visions Fugitives were excellent and were played really well except for little things that seemed uncomfortable.
My Haydn Sonata she was really satisfied with, the rest off the pieces really to me need more work...

she asked me whether i wanted to know my mark and i thought that i probably would have failed so i just kept quiet. My teacher said that I actually suprised her because playing through a whole set of pieces showed what I was really capable off...so she said a strict examiner would give a 74 or a pass for sure

i'm pretty happy, relieved rather that I got that passing mark for the 1st try because that has never happened for any of my previous exams and my teacher knows because she is an examiner after all

I will be getting my audition results by the end of this month so wish me all the best

now I have 5 more weeks to work to my goal of getting a mark of 90 or more for my exam and i will do it somehow

i guess after thinking over it, i do feel proud of myself for what i've achieved. I registered for this exam as a self-study exam, a request of my teacher's because she knew that i have recieved the bare minimal help since her own concert is comming up and she wanted to see what I could achieve on my own

oh,just to make things clear, the 74 i recieved was for the 1st mock exam my teacher gave me, my actual exam is on the 19th of June

I think that's wonderful! ARCT is where I am aiming, so I have the hugest amount of respect+admiration that you've gotten this far, especially for doing it mostly on your own! A 74 is nothing to be ashamed of. I always say that it is not so much marks that count as your intention, understanding and overall gain from the experience.

Congratulations! =)
