Forgive my late notice - tickets are nearly if not already sold out,-but just thought I'd let everyone know that Ivo Pogorelich will be giving a recital at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Oct 26 at 8pm in Manhattan. All tickets are 60 dollars, and the program Schumann Symphonic etudes, Two Chopin Nocturnes and the 3rd Sonata.

I never have been a huge fan of his recordings, but thanks to Youtube I've recently seen some stunning videos of Pogorelich, and am deeply looking foward to his concert this month. Will review.
Anyone else going?

I am not a big Pogorelich fan either. But he is going to play in Gainesville, Florida on October 15, and tickets are between $20 and $40, so I'll be going. He probably will play the same program you mentioned.

It makes me feel sad a bit to see Pogorelich concert tickets are $20-$40 while most pop concerts right here range from $50 to $120.

Pogorelich is certainly my favorite. smile
From this programme, I think he recorded Schumann for DG as well as one Nocture from Chopin. And I am going to kill myself soon, because he will never come and play in my country. laugh <-- just kiddin about the suicide. :p

I'm going to see him next month at the new Renee and Henry Segerstrom Hall in Orange County. He will also play the 3rd Chopin sonata and a nocturne. However, he is also playing the Liszt sonata and a Sriabin sonata.

Hey I'll see you there! I went to the opening gala of that concert hall, Midori played Beethovens concerto and there was a world premiere of Phillip Glass' piece, Reverberations. It was incredible laugh

Cool, Liszt's Coffee Pal! I'm using the concert for a concert report due for my school's Applied Music Program.

Yesterday afternoon in Gainesville Florida, he played 2 Beethoven Sonata, 1 Scriabin Sonana, and 1 Rachmaninov Sonata, and no encore. From what I heard, he is just now coming back to performing again after leaving the concert scene when his wife died in 1996. He played the whole concert with music on the piano and a page turner sitting next to him.

Liszt addict, I had a good friend who went to that concert, and he said the reason there was no encore was because he was ****ed about the instrument?

Pogorelich is playing here at the Ferguson Center (CNU) tomorrow night. Unfortunately I can't go, but my teacher and some fellow students are. Looks to be a great recital, though!
