Hi,

If you use a metronome that takes 9-volt batteries, here's a good tip. When you put fresh batteries in your smoke detector each year, keep the old batteries - They still have plenty of juice to run your metronome! If you have multiple smoke detectors, you'll never be w/out metronome batteries again.

Gail

P.S. - If any of you get a chance, would you please respond to the message I accidentally posted at the Piano Forum? I badly need some guidance regarding study materials.

(Gail, please see my post on the other board.)

Has anybody noticed that some 9-volt batteries are slightly too large to fit the battery compartment of some metronomes and tuners. I have an old Seiko quartz metronome and a Sabine tuner (for cello intonation--remember I'm a hack cellist?) that have this problem.

gail,
thanks for the very timely tip. i just replaced the 9V in one of my "chirping" smoke detectors last week and out of curiosity performed the very scientific "lick test" to see if the battery was still good. i was astounded how much juice was still in that battery - yes, that'll work great for the metronome!!
mike
:p
