Hello everyone, I am from Phoenix. Here is my new piano. It is a Palatino upright, it is small, it stands about 44" high.

It just got its first tuning in my possession and I played it for about 7 hours straight. I normally wouldn't be able to afford a piano, but I sold my LCD TV and combined that money with my tax refund check.

Can anyone tell me what kind of finish it is? (The Palatino upright). I want to buy a cleaning kit for it, but I don't know which finish it is. I used glass cleaner and paper towel on it, but now it has smears. It also attracts a lot of dust and prone to fingerprint smudges.

Hi,

I have a yamaha u1 satin finish (which is being traded and taken out on tues and replaced with kawai) that I never did figure out how to get all the prints off of. Yours looks to be a satin finish? Maybe call any piano sales place and ask them whats good now to clean them with (there are a ton of cleaning products out there and you don't want a permanent change in finish).

I'll figure it out eventually.
Until then you may want to keep a safe distance.

FWIW I find the old monsters in some ways more interesting to look at than the brand new pianos. I don't mean to put down the new piano pictures: they are gorgeous and make me drool. But one thing that's special about the oldies is that you can't just go to a web site of a manufacturer and see them any more.

There should be a rule that with old monsters you have to post a recording as well though -- because old pianos are only interesting if they sound good! (There, now I've been equally mean to the new and old piano owners. Well, not so much mean as just honest). Just kidding about having to post a recording. Pictures are always interesting, I think.

Sauter, welcome to the PW forums!

If you have any difficulty posting a photo, you can look at this thread: How to post pictures

I hope you'll have success posting the picture of your Sauter piano.

Be careful with the paper towels, they can scratch the finish.
