Dear Kenny,
LJC is correct. Those screw holes were used to attach your lovely piano to its shipping crate. I verified this with my piano tech when I noticed holes underneath my piano. Disconcerting to see, that's for sure.

I was thrilled to see my Bosie 185 turned into a puzzle on the Pianoworld Puzzles page.
http://www.pianoworld.com/PuzzleMaker3/

If interested, more pictures of my 185 are found on my Web site at http://www.e-bosie.com/gallery.htm

Fun thread... so many beautiful and interesting pianos!

You can see all my pianos at my You Tube link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukfXfaUcXMo

In the opening still photo, before the playing, I am posed at a Nordiska grand that was donated for a one day recording session last year. I do NOT own this piano.

In the You Tube I am playing my magnificent Steinway M grand piano (1917), rebuilt to perfection 15 years ago by Dale Erwin of Modesto. It had been previously worked on in NYC by A&C Piano Craft.. (not a good job)

At the end of the video the camera guy panned around my room.. you can see a very unique Aeolian table style piano, circa 1936 (has an amazing sustain) and my Steinway 1098 vertical (1992)

Next to my Steinway is a Casio PX110 Keyboard.

yes, thanks for your comment.. this room is very special for me and my students. Occasionally I will give hauskonzerts here playing my Steinway M grand. And in the Spring we have student recitals in various segments to avoid overcrowding.

It was sad to read that acoustic piano sales are down around the country. Even in the used piano, private market, so many people are unloading their old uprights, and replacing them with digital keyboards.

I know it's the economy.. so maybe a few years down the line things will change.

Not the best photo, but my grand is a Petrof, upright is a Samick that was given to me, organ in the corner is a Conn 3 manual from a church auction.
Is this a finished basement? No windows, low ceilings, posts and beams,, still a beautiful room indeed.

Here is my new (to me) 1935 Steck 6' 8" rebuilt grand it has a wonderful even singing tone with a fantastic sutain.

I am a pro classical singer and this piano is the culmination of a 2 year search I have tried 26 pianos in all from Bluthners, Bechsteins etc and this Steck piano spoke to my ears and heart, a number of top pro pianists have played it and have been very impressed and suprised by the quaility.

Hope I can upload

Here's my old 1850's B. Shoninger upright. It's not really playable right now.

And here's my beautiful 1926 Blüthner "Style 9".

In a few weeks, I should have something wonderful to add!

Both are gorgeous!

Is the upright tiger oak? refinished? Is it unusually deep for an upright? What wood is the Bluthner?

The upright is tiger oak. I don't believe it has ever been refinished! I think it gives the appearance of being really deep because the "legs" are actually music cabinets.

The Bluthner is rosewood which was not at all unusual for pre-war Bluthners. The vertical orientation of the grain is a little unusual, but they still do it today.

Thanks, apple and pianoloverus. Sadly, I may be parting with my beloved Bluthner soon to make room for something new and special.

Oh, I see: nobody here owns a white piano except me. So I want to introduce my Seiler Jubilee to you. I bought a white piano, because it fits better to my furniture. I'm very proud of it, 'cause it sounds very clear and romantic.

Wish you all a happy new year!

The nice thing about a white piano too (if you can find one in the stores) is that you can usually get a DEAL on one!

My local dealer had an Ivory-colored (not white) small grand on the floor and it lived there a while until it found the perfect home.

I already have a red one, so if I brought that piano home, I'd have to figure out where to fit the blue Yamaha grand smile

Inspiration is the act of pulling a chair up to the writing desk.
Pramberger JP-185 (a 6'1" mahogany-red Grand)+ Glenn Gould-ish piano chair (no cushion)
