Who is your pianist of choice for Schumann in general and the "Davidsbundler Tanze" in particular. I'm always interested in more interpretations of "Kreisleriana" and "Carnival" and "Fantasie in C," etc., but the "Davidsbundler Tanze" is missing from my collection somehow! Recommendations would be appreciated.

Are you talking about Op.6?

Perahia for the Davidsbundler is good.
Geza Anda is one of my favorite Schumann players.

I have Perahia doing other Schumann and have been happy with those performances, but Geza Anda, there's a name I haven't heard in a while...will definitely check it out. Hough is always of interest.

You are too good to me....

My teacher is playing this in recital on Sunday, along with Beethoven Op.111, which, thanks to you, I listened to this morning at work while engaged in some otherwise dreary report writing.

Thank you!

...Schiff, Pollini, Haefliger, all intriguing. I thank you for your recommendations.

Listened to Hough this afternoon and he's very, very good at letting Schumann be Schumann. It is an old friend's voice, Schumann's. The inordinate fondness for 6ths, the strident marches, the fanciful dances, the introspection and extroversion, whimsy and angst, the melodies that seem to spin on forever in a sort of eternal longing and then they're just gone. An old friend.
