Can get tickets to one of these performances - anybody know anything about any of these pianists? Not sure which to choose?

Thanks!

Just saw Orion Weiss. Very clean performance of the Emperor cto. I didn't feel like he took many risks, so it wasn't the most exciting performance, but I enjoyed it.

I used to study at Rice University and saw Robert Roux perform multiple times. My favorite was a performance of the 2nd Rachmaninoff concerto. I can't speak about the others, but he's a solid bet--very, very enthusiastic about music and plays with all his heart.

I'll second Roux. Very nice guy, too.

I've only heard Weiss, a few years ago. He played in a small hall on a piano that left much to be desired--and I was still mightily impressed.

The composers want performers be imaginative, in the direction of their thinking--not just robots, who execute orders.

I saw Weiss play the Tchaikovsky Concerto and was quite impressed with his playing. Can't comment on the others, but I would recommend Weiss...

I third Roux.

He's a great pianist.

Ian Parker is the nephew of John Kimura Parker (Leeds winner) and Jamie Parker (Gryphon Trio). I think he's still pretty young, though comes from a very musical heritage. He recently played the 3rd piano role in the Mozart 3-piano concerto with his two uncles for a CBC recording. I haven't heard him live so can't comment whether he has inherited the same stage presence and personality from Jackie and Jamie.
