What I get when I try to access www.sheetmusicarchive.com is not even close to what I expect. Try it.

That's nothing compared to the difference between www.whitehouse.gov and www(dot)whitehouse(dot)com (you'll have to enter that one in your browser yourself.

IIRC they used to own sheetmusicarchive.com as well, but they must have let it expire and someone else registered it.

I remember when the .com site changed a while ago, I thought the whole thing was gone and tried to email the company that runs the site (Natex Communications Inc?) about ordering a cd with all the PDFs on it. I didn't get a reply, but has anyone ever tried this? It says they'll send you a CD for $10US. Sounds like pretty good value to me smile

Yes, I ordered the CD in June of 2001. It took a long time to receive--about a month, I recall. Apparently these are made to order by someone on staff with lots of other duties. The CD works fine and has a handy index list with all the compositions and file names.

There are copyright issues to doing this, as Natex Corp. stipulates:

"All sheet music files are copyright by The Sheet Music
Archive, and unauthorized distribution or commercial
usage of these files is prohibited. These files
may be printed out for personal use, non-commercial
performance or academic study only. All other rights
reserved."

Just out of curiosity, I tried the sheet music archive site. I was able to access it, so I assume it should be back on-line.

About the site mentioned in Palindrome's above post, please be aware that www(dot)whitehouse(dot)com is a PORNOGRAPHY site.

You are, of course, free to peruse whatever sites that interest you, but in the interest of younger/ and more sensitive users of this board, I think that web addresses of a more "adult"
nature should be clearly labeled as such.

I agree with Newbie! I usually spend my lunch hour catching up on the Piano Forum posts. I tried the whitehouse sites. Our web usage is monitored, and I'm sure the IT department was shocked at what "that sweet little ole 57-year-old grandmother" was looking at. Fortunately I have only 2 weeks to go, so I don't think I'm going to get fired. (I should be so lucky.) My job has really been interfering with my practice time. laugh
