OK, so I just got back from an amazing concert. One of the pieces was Rachmaninoff's Trio Elegiaque in D minor Op.9 The pianist was Alan Kogosoqski, he did a fantastic job with it. He even arranged it for orchestra which they played later in the concert. I found a recording of his orchestral arrangement, but I can't find a recording of just the trio. It was such a beautiful piece I would love a recording (preferably his, but I'm not sure if he recorded it). Any help would be appreciated.

Once during a concert at Carnegie Hall, the violinist Rachmaninoff was playing with lost his place in the music and whispered to Rachmaninoff, "Where are we?" Rachmaninoff replied, in all seriousness, "Carnegie Hall".

If you do a search on google for "Trio Elegiaque in D minor" you'll get a number of matches including one at cduniverse with 10 recordings. Didn't see one by the artist you mentioned though.

I tried to save you a step by posting a link to the search results but the link was too long and it wouldn't post properly.

I recorded it! Seriously! But I've never seen the finished cd ... it was a live performance, but we also recorded one reharsal, so later we combined the two recordings. Really not a great performance though smile
Anyway I just don't like that piece very much; it is beautiful sounding at first, but after you listen to it several times, you get bored ... at least that was my (and my friends) opinion.
I have recordings from trio italiano, beaux arts and borodin (I don't like the last one).
