I am buying Roland Hp 704 tomorrow and just got to know that it does not have USB Audio. My questions is will I be able to use vsts with it and hear them through its speakers?

Thanks

Probably not; it might have USB audio like Yamaha does, but even that has been riven with complexities. Even if things workrd for you, an external sound system would amost cetainly sound a lot better.

If the HP704 has an analog "Line In" or "Audio In" jack (which it seems to have -- from Roland:

Input jacks: Stereo miniature phone type

. . . you can feed the analog output of a VST into that jack, and play it through the DP's loudspeakers.

To get an analog audio output signal, you must take the VST's digital audio and convert it to analog audio. If you decide to use the computer's built-in soundcard for that job, it's free.

If you decide to use a higher-quality soundcard (called an "audio interface" rather than a soundcard, because of its higher price and quality), that will cost anywhere from about $50 to $200. (There are more expensive units available, but IMHO they are a waste of money except in a serious recording studio. I'm sure some people here will disagree.)

Don't second-guess your decision -- the DP will do what you want it to do, without a lot of trouble or expense.

The question of "Should I get external loudspeakers?" is best answered after you have the piano in your own house, under your own fingers.
