The NAMM show will soon be here. June 3-5.

The 2022 NAMM Show

What with all the lamenting about production slow downs, electronic chip shortages, COVID fiascos, shipping delays, there's been much ado about how few new DP models have rolled out in the last little while.

Has anyone sniffed out potential or likely new DP releases. Any of the big manufactures dropping hints of new DP products pre-NAMM?

Intel = Intelligence

I changed the post's title here.

I would like to see a successor to YAMAHA P‑515.
But that's just a wish.

How old is that model?

Would you say it's falling behind the current offerings in the marketplace in one or some or many respects?

This model will be four years old in June. This model was functionally similar to the CLP-645. The CLP-745 with the new GrandTouch-S keyboard, the new Bösendorfer binaural sound, new re-recorded samples of the basic piano sounds, plus an additional dynamic sample layer I would welcome in the new P-series model.

The Yamaha P-515 was released 2018 and is a slab piano style clone of the Yamaha CLP-645...
But now there is a successor, the CLP-745. At least it has a different (better?) action (NWX in CLP-645/P-515 vs. GrandTouch-S in CLP-745), new Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer samples...
So for me it makes sense to update the P-515 :-)

GH3X feels even heavier than NWX. I'd prefer something with less initial resistance.

Based on informed guess, press release from Yamaha, connections to dealer or distribution networks…?

I don't think the P-515 actually needs updating for my own preferences - except for the little glitch on the single-push record mode, where the very first key that is struck will noticeably be delayed when struck (and the rest of the succeeding notes will be fine). I have zero issue with the particular NWX setup for the P-515. I don't want yamaha to touch that actually. I prefer it if their next one has the same setup.

It's fallen behind Yamaha's current technology.

It definitely does need upgrading, but not now.
No point in upgrading when you likely can't meet the demand.

I'm with Abdol. I can't see Kawai, Roland or Yamaha releasing anything digital piano wise.

When they do upgrade, they will add the Grand Touch S action and the Bosendorfer will be binurally sampled.
Also, I suspect it will get better amplification (marginally).

They may also add MIDI over Bluetooth, which currently requires an external $50 gizmo but which is included in Roland's FP90x (and maybe also Kawaii's ES920?).

All in all, not much needs to be done, and this will remain a very good digital piano for many years, and frankly, short of it failing in some ways, mechanically or otherwise, I cannot see myself getting another digital piano, maybe ever. The piano is much, much better than I am or probably ever will be, as a pianist.

Complete beginner, started 12/2020 with Yamaha PSR-E373. I used to play guitar some 40 years ago and recall some music theory, sheet music reading. Making steady progress with the Faber's Adult All-in-One method books and complements.

For myself - the P-515 doesn't require an upgrade. I'm 'stoked' with the action of it, and the sounds from it. Unfortunately, they put plastic stuff inside their other 'upgraded' actions - so I reckon that I (or we) are lucky that we caught the last 'lucky' bus - with the P-515.

Yeah, from a personal point of view, you might well believe it; however, it is clearly slightly behind the curve.

I'm quite happy at the moment I must say.
The MP7SE with VST's is a great combo.

I think if I do get something, it maybe an extra board---a synth or something.

I'd love to see a hybrid MIDI console (N1X without audio circuits). I know this will not happen for years though.
