Do you place item(s) under your grand piano besides the following?
- rug / carpet / floor mat - dog cushion bed - some thick blankets to further lower the acoustic.
How about e.g boxes containing books or some items to better utilised the space or generally, avoid doing so?

We don't have anything under our piano save for a large area rug that fits the entire piano and bench. The dogs appreciate the open space. They like to lounge underneath while I practice.

I too think piano benches would be the right one to use under the piano. Anything else like clothes have high risk of being slippery or cause disturbance while playing piano.

I have a rug beneath the piano, and a dog cushion for my poodle to sit on while I play.
Her favorite composers are Bark and Poochini. Offenbark is a long-time favorite too.
She is not fond of Depussy, whom she finds rather annoying.

There is often a cat under there, but she places herself.

A cardboard box full of old sheet music. A hygrometer (that would be hygrometer #3 in the room). Three boxes of jigsaw puzzles. A box of letters written to my father by his family during WWII.

i don t have the piano yet I just was planing to put the things there. its not really a "humidifier" its a water based air cleaner. it cannot oversaturate the room humidity, so I think it would be okay.

I have boxes of junk under mine, and loads of books. Typical household stuff that I don't need to get at easily but still want to keep.

I have no experience with these but from reading the internet, it does increase humidity—but just in a more limited area. I certainly can be overly-cautious, but I would not want it under my piano.

A red, round shag rug permanently lives under my piano. Sometimes my kids build forts on the rug too. I think the sound is best when they pile all their stuffed animals under the piano, but they always seem to wander off after a while.

A very large ottoman about 3 feet in diameter. It's well tufted and absorbs sound well (I live in an apartment building and have wooden floors), and it can be pulled out for extra seating when we have guests.
